How Bowling Scoring Works

Basic Scoring

  • Each frame, you get 2 rolls to knock down 10 pins
  • Your score is the total pins knocked down
  • A game consists of 10 frames

Strikes and Spares

  • Strike (X): Knock down all 10 pins on first roll. Bonus: next 2 rolls added to frame score
  • Spare (/): Knock down all 10 pins in 2 rolls. Bonus: next 1 roll added to frame score

10th Frame Special Rules

  • Strike or spare in 10th frame = bonus rolls
  • Maximum of 3 rolls in the 10th frame

Perfect Game

  • 12 consecutive strikes = 300 points
  • The maximum possible bowling score
